Skiing madness anyone? Yes, one day I will accept I cannot write posts while my dad is driving me to the airport, IF the topic is not strictly the travel. But for now, who cares?Have you seen the races yesterday? Women’s slalom and men’s downhill, third race for women and second for men. Women are in Aspen Snowmass, one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the US, while men are in Lake Louise, also known as Lake Lindsey, not only an outstanding place in Alberta, Canada, but also the place where I set the imaginary CSA (please read: the most contradictory place of my book).
Women first, right? What to say about the races… It has been great seeing Federica Brignone (ITA) on the podium again, maybe the pink avalanche is coming back, but obviously this is the opinion of a proud Italian. Lara Gut (CH)’s performance was amazing, her second run was beyond any expectation. Glad also to see Eva-Maria Brem (DE) on the podium, as a couple of years ago she won the GS race here at the Mount Pora. No words to express how sorry I felt for Mikaela Shiffrin, falling down and missing a gate just before the finish line. But I guess she was paid back today with her amazing win in the first slalom of the season with 3.07 seconds of advantage to Zuzulova and 3.26 on Hansdotter. As usual, she shows her discipline, her strength, but also her great character.
Men’s race today was exciting as well. I saw Peter Fill’s first run and he was damn fast. But then Svindal. He’s my favourite. Yes, I know I should cheer Italians, but Svindal is great, not like Bode Miller, but still outstanding and it’s always a pleasure seeing him on top of the podium. Well, glad Hirscher and Ligety are not keen on DH, otherwise it would be terrible for me to choose between them which one to cheer for. You know, luck matters.
Have A Safe Journey!
